After attending one of several summer Coach Beckman football camps hosted by the University of Illinois, two recruits will definitely jump onto some major division 1 recruiting lists. Austin Galindo, a tight end from University High, and Jaleen Jones, a defensive back from Urbana high school, were able to steal the show with fantastic scores in their agility and speed tests. Galindo shows that he can use his height of 6’6 to outreach smaller defensive backs for the ball when thrown to, and with his 240 pound frame he is able to push linebackers around when asked to block.
On the defensive side of things, Jaleen Jones is as athletic a defensive back as scouts will see coming out of the midwest. At 5’10 he is able to use his vertical and lightning quickness to make effective plays on the ball when quarterbacks decide to throw at him. What absolutely pops out when watching this young athlete is his technique, which will be worked on when he levels up but has proven way above average in the meanwhile.
As these two make their way onto scouts’ recruiting lists it will be hard for the Fighting Illini to keep these two from slipping out of the state.
