A much anticipated display of talent showed up at the football fields of Notre Dame this past weekend for the Notre Dame 7 on 7 passing camp. Kyle Speas, out of Plainfield North High School in Illinois, proved why he will come into the fall as one of the nation’s top weapons. During competition, Speas was one of the most consistent receivers to take the field. Even passes that seemed out of his range were pulled in, as this tight end was able to use his lengthy range to the dismay of all of his opponents. This young athlete’s obvious ability was exposed early in the session, and yet the catches made later on in the day left even the most avid football fan scratching their head. He continuously slipped open running by safeties and finding cracks in zone after zone. Even when teams put their best cover corners on him, Speas was able to outrun some of the faster defenders, who may have underestimated his deceptive speed. By the end of the day, Kyle Speas showed that he will be a formidable threat, whether lined up in a three point stance or whether flexed out as a receiver. Although he has made a commitment to the University of Miami of Ohio, it won’t stop other schools from throwing offers at him. Keep an eye on this athlete because he has the ability to make a big impact this upcoming fall.
